"The values learned on the playing field--how to set goals, endure, take criticism and risks, become team players, use our beliefs, stay healthy and deal with stress--prepare us for life." ---Donna de Varona
The Mission Pacific Athletic Department believes in the value of character-building and through competitive athletics students will be encouraged to develop character through participation.
Athletic Goals:
1. To teach each athlete the definition of positive representation of themselves and the school both on and off the athletic field.
2. To push each athlete beyond their perceived potential; athletically, academically, and personally.
3. To teach and expect commitment from every athlete, to ensure the greatest success of the athlete, the team and the school. This success is not measured in wins and losses, although that is certainly one measure of athletic success.
4. To assist athletes in the understanding and practice
of team play.
5. To prepare prospective college athletes for a
successful college athletic experience.
6. To develop within all the athletes the necessity and benefits associated with responsibility and to develop and practice leadership skills within an athletic forum.
"Victory isn't defined by wins or losses. It is defined by effort. If you can truthfully say, 'I did the best I could, I gave everything I had,' then you're a winner." ---Wolfgang Schadler
